The Payroll Manager that will take the operational efficiency of our 20+ processor team to the next level in support of unparalleled client experience. She/he will not only improve processing efficiency and ensure a high level of accuracy in high-volume payroll but will also oversee the onboarding of new payrolls and the implementation of a new external/internal processing software. The ideal candidate is a Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) with management and project management experience.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Run Acumen’s payroll processing team which processes payroll for state funded, self-direction programs and service provider clients in over 20 states.
Design and execute a strategy and required processes for the payroll team to ensure deadlines and high standards of accuracy are met.
Optimize existing processes (payroll and team related) to ensure a high level of efficiency and lead adoption of new external/internal processing software.
Collaborate with CTO, development team. and other stakeholders on the design and implementation of new software/systems
Assess new opportunities, whether for existing or new business lines, and develop action plans for the team to onboard and deliver for those clients.
Maintain payroll guidelines by writing and updating policies and procedures.
Balance payroll accounts by resolving payroll discrepancies.
Comply with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on needed actions.

Lead team and employee development including recruiting, orienting, and assessing employee performance.
Maintain employee confidence and protect payroll operations by keeping information confidential.
Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
Work with accounting team, finance team, IT, HR, and across operations.
Perform all other job-related duties as assigned.
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field required.
Credentialed as a Certified Payroll Professional (CPP).
5+ years payroll management experience, US and Canada including 3-4 years multi-state payroll required.
Project management and systems implementation experience.
Excellent computer skills including advance Microsoft Excel.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and details in a time sensitive environment.
Ability to occasionally work other than normal work hours due to increased workload.
Experience managing a large team team with a track record of exceeding expectations.
Experience managing the development and internal adoption of new technical systems.
